An idea of stationery
Out of step
Sérieux Bazar is an online stationery shop born from a simple attachment: to paper, drawing, objects worth keeping, and the traces we leave by hand.
The project was born against the current of a world where everything seems to become faster, more digital and more immediate. Not out of nostalgia or a rejection of the present, but from the desire to preserve a different way of creating, exploring and taking one’s time. The time to choose a notebook, sharpen a pencil, scribble down an idea, make a list, draw without a specific purpose or simply leave a mark.
Yet Sérieux Bazar fully belongs to its time. Today, the shop exists primarily online — with all the contradictions that come with it. Digital tools are also part of the project’s everyday life. But behind the screen, the intention remains the same: to champion tangible objects, simple gestures and a freer, more personal, less disposable form of creativity.
A collection of beautiful things
Here, classic stationery sits alongside artistic objects, unique editions, second-hand finds, artists’ creations and treasures that are harder to classify. Every item is selected for its aesthetic, practical or emotional qualities. The "bazar" has no real limits, as long as there is always room for new ideas.
The idea is also to rediscover the pleasure of browsing, noticing an unexpected detail or stumbling across the perfect little object almost by chance. A shop you return to as much to discover what’s new as to find something specific.
In time, Sérieux Bazar hopes to step beyond the screen from time to time: becoming a temporary physical space, hosting gatherings, showcasing artists and letting objects and ideas circulate in real life.
Behind the project
Behind Sérieux Bazar is someone who has spent almost a lifetime with a pencil in hand.
Sketchbooks filled with drawings instead of photo albums, handwritten lists everywhere, watercolours painted on the corner of a table, afternoons colouring with the children, carefully ruled planners and quieter moments spent alone with a sketchbook.
After studying design and taking a detour through art school, the path eventually led towards the digital world and building websites. A "real job", as they say. The one that keeps the lights on and pays for dinner.
But paper never really disappeared.
Sérieux Bazar was probably born from the desire to keep a space for overflowing projects, imperfect objects, wonderfully unnecessary ideas and everything that escapes the logic of fast production.
The project continues to grow gradually, with the ambition of doing things slowly, thoughtfully and for the long term.
Where is the shop based?
A moving geography.
Sérieux Bazar has one foot in Belgium and the other in the Netherlands.
While remaining deeply attached to France.
For now, orders are prepared and shipped from The Hague. Delivery is mainly available in Belgium, the Netherlands and France, although this organisation will undoubtedly continue to evolve as the project grows.
This ever-changing geography is also part of the shop’s identity: a project constantly on the move, continuously evolving and shaped by encounters, relocations and new ideas.
What comes next
Always moving forward
The collection will continue to grow with new objects, unique editions, lesser-known artists, more second-hand treasures and finds that are difficult to discover elsewhere. The goal is not to accumulate more and more, but to offer objects that have a presence, a story or simply something a little different.
Over time, the project also hopes to create more connections beyond the screen: gatherings, collaborations, occasional events and more tangible expressions of the shop.
If the world of Sérieux Bazar resonates with you, if you would like to share an idea, suggest an object, introduce an artist or simply say hello, feel free to get in touch.
